Tip Studio
Jesmonite Sculptor
Using mainly discarded or found objects as a starting point, Daisy Freestone of Tip Studio creates refined, hand-cast sculptural vessels. These include found and foraged natural materials suspended within Jesmonite - an environmentally low impact, composite material consisting of a natural mineral stone and water-based binder. Each piece encapsulates and is characterised by materials collected from the natural landscape. These materials (flint, chalk and lichen from the Hampshire Downs, sand and slate from North Cornwall, mudstone and ironstone from West Wales) inhabit the vessels and imbue them with a texture and memory of their place of origin.
