Saturday morning 2nd August 10 - 1 ON THE DAY Join Aimée Alice Payton for a creative workshop where you will make a stunning freestanding drum lampshade with a built-in lampholder fitting and little legs. No need for a separate base. Whether you want a bold statement piece or something timeless and elegant, you will have a wide choice of beautiful fabrics to suit your style. In this morning workshop, you will be introduced to the materials, tools, and fabric choices needed to create your own lampshade. You will receive hands-on, step-by-step instruction as you build your lamp, with expert guidance from Aimée on neatly finishing and assembling the lampshade for a polished, professional look. You will learn how to carefully apply fabric to a lampshade frame, achieving smooth, crisp edges. Aimée will guide you through assembling the integral lampholder fitting and finishing touches. LUNCH If you're joining us for the morning workshop, you're very welcome to stay for lunch alongside the other students. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, or treat yourself to a delicious £12.50 meal provided by The Goring Grocer, known for their exceptional food. The lunch includes a generous slice of quiche, seasonal salad, and a homemade sweet treat. Hot drinks and biscuits will be available all day. BONUS OFFER Want to get even more creative? All materials to make the shade and the electrical fitting are included. ADVISORY NOTE Lampshade making can be hard on the hands. Please consider this if you have hand or wrist issues. WHAT TO BRING If you have any fabric that would love to use please feel free to bring it and we can see if it is suitable. TAKE HOME A professionally finished, fully functional freestanding lamp, ready to plug in and enjoy. All you will need is a bulb. MORE ABOUT YOUR TUTOR With a background in Theatre and Museums Aimée loves textiles, and brings a wealth of knowledge working with unique fabrics, particularly Indian block prints, and enjoys sharing her expertise in fun, relaxed workshops. Aimée Alice Payton is a maker specialising in handmade lampshades and upholstery in her full time studio in the heart of Wiltshire.

We are keen to help anyone with an ailment or disability attend our creative workshops. If you have any concerns please contact us directly and we will discuss with you the appropriate actions we can take to help you. Training will be given, however participants must be aware that sharp tools may be used and you must take responsibility for your own safety. We are unable to offer refunds 28 days before the workshop starts unless another person is able to take the place. Contact us directly if you are no longer able to attend and we will endeavor to find someone else. In case of cancellation you will receive a refund or the opportunity to attend another workshop. While all measures are taken to ensure the safety of your belongings on the day, we are not liable for any loss or damage.
