Saturday afternoon 2nd August 1.30 - 4.30 ON THE DAY Create a stylish, curved-edge shade with your choice of pom-pom trim, fringe, or braid for a truly unique look. During this afternoon workshop, Aimée will guide you through each step of the process, starting with an introduction to the materials, tools, and fabric choices. You will receive detailed, step-by-step guidance on covering and finishing a scalloped shade, along with tips on attaching trims to enhance your design. No sewing is required, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone. With a wide selection of stunning fabrics to choose from, including Indian block prints and classic florals, you can design a piece that perfectly complements your style and make something for your home. Learn how to choose and apply fabric, tuck and secure edges neatly, and attach decorative trims for a professional finish. LUNCH If you're joining us for the afternoon workshop, you're very welcome to arrive early for lunch alongside the other students. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, or treat yourself to a delicious £12.50 meal provided by The Goring Grocer, known for their exceptional food. The lunch includes a generous slice of quiche, seasonal salad, and a homemade sweet treat. Hot drinks and biscuits will be available all day. BONUS OFFER Want to get even more creative? Book both lampshade making workshops and get a free lunch. TOOLS AND MATERIALS Everything is supplied for you to be able to make your scalloped lampshade. There will be a wide range of fabric in all sorts of wonderful colours and patterns as well as a selection of trims. ADVISORY NOTE Lampshade making can be hard on the hands. Please consider this if you have hand or wrist issues. WHAT TO BRING If you have any fabric that would love to use please feel free to bring it and we can see if it is suitable. A lamp base if you have one already. TAKE HOME A finished scalloped-edge lampshade, ready to attach to your favourite lamp base. ABOUT YOUR TUTOR Aimée is an experienced maker with a passion for textiles and home décor. In her studio work , based in Wiltshire she specialises in creating distinctive lampshades and upholstery pieces, using beautiful fabrics to bring interiors to life. She is a lecturer in textiles at the British School of Upholstered Furniture and has run many lampshade making workshops. She is delighted to return to The Coaching Barn .

We are keen to help anyone with an ailment or disability attend our creative workshops. If you have any concerns please contact us directly and we will discuss with you the appropriate actions we can take to help you. Training will be given, however participants must be aware that sharp tools may be used and you must take responsibility for your own safety. We are unable to offer refunds 28 days before the workshop starts unless another person is able to take the place. Contact us directly if you are no longer able to attend and we will endeavor to find someone else. In case of cancellation you will receive a refund or the opportunity to attend another workshop. While all measures are taken to ensure the safety of your belongings on the day, we are not liable for any loss or damage.
